Again random thoughts today. About our jobs. Oh well!!
Was thinking about how many of us really knew what we were getting into before we joined our companies? Not me definitely. IT job was (is) so overrated that, that i felt there was no other worthy job elsewhere. Now do i know the truth.
But if someone asks, do we really tell how much our jobs suck. Nooo.. Not everyone. May be among our peers but definitely not to our uncles and aunts. Why? We dont want them to think that we are doing something unworthy. Right? Oh well!!
And if someone asks what exactly is your work? You try to mask your job description with all glossy words like 'i create web pages, applications for so and so company'. What someone is really doing might be write html code. I mean will we really own up that our jobs suck? That we are not happy there and we are sticking in that company cos of big bucks?? No one likes to accept his mistakes, after all....

What's this Marriage about??
I am writing this on the eve of my best friend's wedding :) (Well, nothing related to the movie). She really is my best friend and I am very glad that she is marrying the person she loves.
Her wedding preparations and stuff got me into thinking, what's this marriage all about? Why is this so overrated? What takes to have a good marriage?
Well, this is how i analyzed it. This marriage is a whole new world for the guy and the girl (if they are getting married for the first time, i.e!!). It promises all the fairy tale dreams, affection, love and a life long companionship. Well, then what happens after 1-2 years of marriage? Where do these dreams go? What happens to love and affection?
Its just that the girl and the guy are so psyched up about their life together that they forget to bring one tiny teeny thing into perspective - reality. They forget that it takes 2 people here to be happy and to lead a life whereas earlier it was just you and your wishes. And also the euphoria dies down gradually. The secret lies in keeping this alive. One should come out of the 'is this all what marriage is about?' syndrome and treat every day differently:)
I know i know, you would have heard about these things before and I am just passing it on. Oh well!! But aren't these things true??

Shallow shallow!!
I was just going through one of my friend's blog and the first thing that struck me was, 'her home page is so nice, why isn't mine?'. Isn't it a bit shallow of me. I did not think about her posts or her style of writing, but thought of the looks. Oh well!!
This got me into thinking. Aren't most people like this nowadays. Outer beauty takes precedence over inner beauty. It's a cliched dialogue and everyone keeps talking about it. But how many people really follow it.
Take for example, Bollywood movies. If the heroine is dressed well, from a top designer, the produces assumes the movie will be a hit. Whether the story is a repeated one, whether the camera work is good, whether the lead actors are acting well, doesn't bother him. But the look of the movie should be chic. How shallow!!
And also, why is it that the heroines have to go through a complete makeover to win hero's heart? Just by changing her hair style, clothes, does the person inside her also change? Is the hero that dumb to understand this point?
Now, to more realistic examples. You are walking down a road with friends. As soon as a hep dressed girl passes by, all the guys are looking in her direction. When searching for a bride, the first specification a guy mentions is, 'she has to be beautiful and fair'. Like character and education don't matter at all. Oh well!!
We are the victims of 'Attraction of the outer appearance'!! Oh well!!

Oh well!!!
Has it ever happened to you that you send out a mail to your friends expecting all of them to reply and they dont, while some other friend sends out a mail and suddenly your mail box is flooded with replies from everyone. Oh well!!
Has it ever happened to you that you consider yourself a very good friend of someone but later come to know that that person has made plans of some trip/outing without you even being invited to that. Oh well!!
Has it ever happened to you that you would be expecting some increment/promotion in the office/any place (from anyone) and that some non-deserving person gets it. You wont even get a chance to defend yourself. Oh well!!
Has it ever happened to you that you buy some costly stuff and exactly after a week, there is a 50% discount on that. Oh well!!
Oh well!! thats life.. :P
