Today I am on a roll. Feeling so verbose. This post is about random things. Random observations.
1. 2 months into marriage life. Its great. Enjoying staying with a guy :)
2. Its a new feeling staying at a new home. It was so easy to adjust. Parents-in-law are cool.
3. Enthusiasm about teaching is slowly waning. Its not that fulfilling now. With our beloved HOD gone and students becoming harder to manage, I dont enjoy it much.
4. I find so much of free time in the evenings, now that no more shopping to be done.
5. Friends have become so busy. We used to meet up so regularly but now, hardly everyone is free at the same time. Oh well!!
6. People here are so egoistic. Simple matters make them angry over others.
7. IPL scandals have become more interesting than the matches themselves. Modi had a excellent time making money. Now he ll have a tough time explaining how he earned so much. He he..
8. Orkut has lost its charm. Hardly any posts or scraps. Facebook and Twitter have taken over. :)
Fine, enough for now. Ran out of topics. Will be back shortly :P

Oye!!!
Yesterday Petu and me decided to go for lunch. Without any reason. Just like that. We decided to go to Oye Amritsar!! I hate the moment we decided to go there.
First, the ambiance at Church Street one is not that great. It is a roof top restaurant and they have hardly invested anything on interiors. Anyway, we thought at that moment this is the rustic look which is a 'in-thing'. Fine.
Later, we were ready to order. The manager suggested a platter of starters. We, not knowing the quantity or the price, agreed for it. When it was served, we were surprised to see that the platter would suffice for 4-5 people. Buurrrp. So, we ordered only rice for the main course, which was ok-ok.
When the bill came, it was a shock for us. Half the amount in the bill was for the starters!! Man, did we feel ripped off. Not only did we not finish it, we ended up paying sooooooo much for it.
Then we decided that we ll give some 40-50 years before we visit there again :P

Students of today..
This teaching profession is really a ungreatful one. When i was a student, i hardly realized how much i (we) used to hurt our teachers. Now, that i am on the other side, i am experiencing it.
Even though you are good to them, polite, teach well, it is not enough. Dont know what students expect. Especially the higher semester students.
It is very difficult to handle them, make them sit through one hour of class. You ask them a question, they stare at you as though you have asked them to jump out of the window. You ask them to do an assignment, they get it only if marks are promised. That too with low quality work.
I had actually liked these students last semester. They too would talk to me like a friend. But not anymore. Because, they will be graduating in few months and they are the kings and queens of the college. Wonder how they ll survive in the industry with such an attitude.
I feel the main reason for such defiant behavior is that they are left free at home and at college. Higher management is always on their side. And also, they have lost interest in studying. Engineering is no longer to understand how things work. It is just a degree. Anyone can and will get it. There is no motivation to do well. If you sail through the semesters, it is an achievement.
Meanwhile, the lower semester students are so sweet. They do their work on time, submit it with such dedication. I feel happy looking at them. I know for sure that they will turn into defiant students as they climb higher semesters. Till then, let them be.
With such attitude, higher semester students better be prepared for what is in store for them few months from now. I just wish them all the best.
